  1. The current stipend level of a full fellowship is set at NT$34,000/ month (about USD$1,130/ month).
  2. A full fellowship is typically granted to students in the first year after enrollment.
  3. For the second and the third academic year, the monthly stipend is determined by a merit-based process based on several factors including (but not limited to) the student’s course grades and the evaluations from the academic/ thesis advisor.
  4. An Ad Hoc Evaluation Committee will decide the student's stipend level each semester after the first year. The full fellowship will be given only to those students who perform well. For the student whose performance is less satisfactory, the Ad Hoc Evaluation Committee may reduce the student's stipend level.
  5. After three years, financial support will be provided by the student's thesis advisor. The amount of the support will be determined by the advisor.


Medical Insurance

Upon receiving their student ID, students are qualified to join the Taiwan National Health Insurance Program. The students are expected to pay the same premium (about US$210 per year) like all the Taiwan citizens and will be entitled to the same medical coverage.

NTU-MST offers admissions to the Fall semester only. The admission deadline for the NTU-MST program is March 31 every year. Because the admission and application of NTU-MST is through the website of Taiwan International Graduate Program (TIGP), Molecular Science and Technology (MST), please refer to the website for the detail. (http://tigp.sinica.edu.tw).

International students and Taiwanese students with a M.S. degree from an accredited institution will be considered for admissions. The applicants’ qualification for admission will be based mainly, but not exclusively, on the following certified/ notarized documents provided by the applicant:

  1. Undergraduate and graduate academic records or transcripts. 

  2. English Proficiency certificate: Applicants whose first or native language is not English are required to submit one of the following English proficiency test reports (the listed scores are recommendations)
    (i) TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language): Scores should exceed 550 on the paper-based or 213 on the computer-based or 79 on the New Internet-based TOEFL (TOEFL-iBT) (Our Institution code is: 7142 Academia Sinica).
    (ii) GEPT (General English Proficiency Test): Applicants from Taiwan may take the General English Proficiency Test (GEPT) administered by the Language Training and Testing Center. A High-intermediate level certificate is required.
    (iii) IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Scores should exceed 5.5.
    Applicants who have completed a degree program in an English speaking country, or who graduated from a university where English is the primary language of instruction may be exempted from the test of English proficiency with an official certification issued by the Office of Registrar.
    (iv)  Applicants who have completed a degree program in an English speaking country, or who graduated from a university where English is the primary language of instruction may be exempted from the test of English proficiency with an official certification issued by the Office of Registrar.

  3. Three letters of recommendation commenting on the applicant's personal character, and qualifications for independent study, including intellectual ability, research potential, and scientific motivation. Letters of recommendation can be submitted by using the online registration system or by mail to the admissions office. 

  4. A statement of purpose or plan for graduate study detailing motivation, experience, and academic interests.

    The above submitted application materials will not be returned to applicants under any circumstances. The complete application materials must reach TIGP-MST before March 31. Applications can be submitted through the on-line application system (recommended):

Applicants who are admitted to NTU-MST must prepare the following documents before finalizing their registration:

  1. One photocopy of the applicant’s diploma from a secondary school or a college/ university that was legalized by the R. O. C. (Taiwan) Overseas Missions in the country of the original school (an English or Chinese verified copy is also necessary if the original diploma is not in English or Chinese).

  2. One original version of the applicant’s official transcript from a secondary school or a college/ university that was legalized by the R. O. C. (Taiwan) Overseas Missions in the country of the original school (an English or Chinese verified copy is also necessary if the original diploma is not in English or Chinese).
